Removal of the fake flag
[rediger kildetekst]Sorry for using English in Danish Wikipedia. The problem I am dealing with spreads over multiple Wikipedias and I admit I have not offered a full explanation here and in other languages.
As I described in en:Tomoe, is not a genuine flag. It is a product of some miscommunication that happened in mainland Japan (not in Okinawa, where the flag supposedly originated) in the 19th century. The alleged flag was supposedly carried by a ship from Okinawa that drifted to mainland Japan in 1798, but a paper published last year confirms that it actually displayed a well-attested banner (something close to, though not identical with, ). We still do not know exactly how the banner was distorted in mainland Japan. Whatever the case may be, it is too obvious that this is a fake flag. The ship was chartered by the Shō clan, whose family crest is . Compare this with the alleged flag . You can see that the triskelion is facing the opposite direction! --Nanshu (diskussion) 18. jun 2018, 18:11 (CEST)
- Billedteksten siger at billedet Fil:Flag of Ryukyu.svg er det flag som blev skabt i 1950. Men den anførte kilde beskriver flaget fra 1950 som "The flag had three equal-sized horizontal stripes of blue, white, and red (from top to bottom). In the upper left hand corner of the flag (on the blue stripe) was one white star." Den beskrivelse passer på ingen måde med det viste billede, hvorfor billedet ikke kan vise flaget fra 1950. Jeg vil derfor fjerne billedet, da ingen kilder siger hvad det viser. --Kartebolle (Dipsacus fullonum) (diskussion) 19. jun 2018, 19:33 (CEST)
- The caption says that the image File:Flag of Ryukyu.svg is the flag created in 1950. However, the source mentioned describes the 1950 flag as "The flag had three equal-sized horizontal stripes of blue, white, and red (from top to bottom). In the upper left hand corner of the flag (on the blue stripe) was one white star. " This description fits in no way with the displayed image, why the image cannot display the flag from 1950. I will therefore remove the image as no sources say what it shows. --Kartebolle (Dipsacus fullonum) (diskussion) 19. jun 2018, 19:33 (CEST)
